What grade of steel do you use? Why? Is there a difference?

We only use 316 grade stainless steel.

Stainless steel is not a single specific material — it is the name given to a group of corrosion-resistant steels containing a minimum of 11% chromium — varying additions of nickel, molybdenum, titanium, niobium and other elements may also be present. The mechanical properties and behaviour in service of each type of steel depends upon its composition and consequently a carefully considered choice of steel is vital. (Source: Aalco)

Technical information about the various grades of stainless steel — or about 316 grade specifically — is available from Aalco.

Which types of tanks is your equipment compatible with?

We have succesfully installed our systems into stainless steel, mildsteel, concrete, fibreglass and plastic tanks.

How effective are your cooling systems?

The direct internal cooling or heating in tanks makes Weideman Plates more efficient than dimple jackets or running water over the outside of tanks, because there is minimal temperature loss. The plates cool or heat on both sides simultaneously, therefore resulting in a substantial savings on electricity usage. In the case of jacket cooling or heating, only the energy from one side is utilised, while the other side’s is wasted and lost into the atmosphere.

Can the heat exchangers also be used to heat liquids?

Yes, the Weideman Heat Exchanger is used for heating or cooling by using hot/cold water, steam, glycol or refrigrant.

Do you have insurance to protect your clients?

Our work is fully guaranteed and additionally it is also insured against faulty workmanship during the manufacturing process.

Can you supply your equipment to my geographic area?

We most probably can. Our primary market is South Africa, which we supply to nationwide, but we also supply to the international market by means of consulting engineers.
